Shaw Family Community Fund
The Salt Spring Island Foundation will be awarding $500,000 in grants from the Shaw bequest over a five-year period, beginning with the grant to The Root. Applications for the next $100,000 grant, to be awarded in early 2018, will be accepted between October 15 and November 30, 2017. The online application form is on the “How to Apply” page.
Eligible projects will benefit a broad range of islanders, meet a top priority in the community, be shovel-ready, and provide a concrete opportunity for the Shaw family name to be recognized. For more information regarding application criteria, please contact the Salt Spring Island Foundation at 250.537.8305 or email our Grants Advisory Committee Chair, Gordon Chutter at firstname.lastname@example.org
Funds from the Shaw bequest have already supported important community projects, such as the Shaw Family Community Gardens and The Cedars affordable housing project, which assists women and children and senior women in need.
